Mr. Gbadamosi Jalo, one of the witnesses, explained that Kolo registered him on the IPPIS portal, and he had been receiving salaries without being assigned to any government entity, despite having an appointment letter from the National Institute of Oceanography. Jalo admitted paying money to Kolo for this arrangement, with Kolo claiming the payment was on behalf of the FCC chairperson.
Jalo further testified that a driver named Mr. Gambo Yisha’u, who worked for the FCC Commissioner representing Taraba State, confirmed that the money paid eventually reached Mrs. Dankaka.
Twelve other witnesses echoed similar accounts, stating that they had paid money to Kolo but remained unassigned to any government agency.
Another witness, Mr. Musa Ibrahim, a potential beneficiary of the scheme, testified that he paid money to Mr. Abdullahi Azareh, who acted as a linkman to the FCC Commissioner representing Nasarawa State. Ibrahim shared that despite Azareh's brief arrest following numerous complaints, he was released due to intervention by FCC commissioners associated with him.
The committee's Chairman, Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, emphasized that the witnesses' statements and payment records prompted their invitation. He stressed the committee's intention to uncover the truth and suggest appropriate sanctions, even though it wasn't a prosecuting body. Gagdi criticized the IPPIS for its vulnerabilities, questioning how Kolo managed to register individuals without proper authorization.
Gagdi assured that the committee would thoroughly review the bank accounts of all FCC commissioners and intermediaries associated with them.
